Welcome to the Le Grand Elementary Food Service webpage!
We aim to offer our scholars a variety of nutritious meal options served with a friendly smile! Our school meals are carefully planned to ensure that your child receives the essential nutrients needed to support their academic growth. We adhere to high nutrition standards set by the USDA, surpassing them to guarantee optimal nutrition for your child every school day.
Our school meals are more than just a midday meal—they're the energy source for student brainpower, easing stomach discomfort and enabling focused learning. They sustain the body's physical functions and often bring joy to students' days, thanks to our dedicated kitchen staff. Our meals are both nutritious and delicious.
In conclusion, I'd like to emphasize the importance of exercise, healthy eating, and incorporating a variety of colorful foods into your daily diet.
Thank you,
Amber Veenstra, Food Service Director
Lunch Menu's
Le Grand Elementary is a Community Eligibility Provisions (CEP) school! CEP allows eligible schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students regardless of income. A school is eligible to operate CEP if they have an "identified student percentage" (ISP) of at least 25%.
School Breakfast Program (SBP)- is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and non-profit private schools. We are able to offer free breakfast to all of our students because we are a CEP school. All meals are reimbursed to our school district through the School Breakfast Program. The SBP USDA Meal Pattern requirements.
National School Lunch Program (NSLP)- is a federally funded program that assists schools and other agencies in providing nutritious lunches. Because our district is a CEP school, those lunches are served free of cost to all or our students. All meals are reimbursed to our school district through the NSLP. The NSLP follows the USDA Meal Pattern requirements.
Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP)- The CACFP is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks for meals served to children and youth participating in afterschool care programs. These meals are served free of charge to all program participants.
